Jackson Learns to Ride His Bike!!!!

On Tuesday night, we took the training wheels off of Jackson's bike. I had just pulled one of his teeth, and he decided that he was not going to ride his bike if it had training wheels on it. Well, for those of you who do not know Jackson very well, I was skeptical. Jackson is a very sweet, but also kinda scared little boy. So, I let Johnathan work with him on his bike while I cleaned up the kitchen from dinner. Much to my amazement Jackson had not come inside crying by the time I had finished with my cleaning, which was around 7:30 pm. I went outside to investigate and found the two of them in the road working on riding up and down the street in front of our house. Johnathan was holding Jackson by the shirt and walking/running alongside him. About forty-five minutes had gone by before Johnathan let go for a split second and had to yank Jackson off the bike before he hit the ground. Surprisingly, he got back on and tried again. By 8:45 pm on Tuesday he had figured out that if he kept peddling he could keep himself from falling.

Tonight we were only outside for about 30 minutes, but check out Jackson's progress.

Jackson's 7th Birthday Party

Yesterday, we celebrated Jackson's 7th birthday. We had a party at home, but it was supposed to be at the park. This is the second year in a row we have tried to have his party at the park, but it has rained. Maybe next year I will learn from these two years, and have the party at a different location. Since we had just been to Legoland, we decided on a lego party. Jackson specifically asked for a lego brick on his cake, so we did one better and made a lego brick cake. Jackson also specified that the cake was to be green. Jackson had several friends from the neighborhood, school and church at his party. All the kids had a blast playing with the lego's and the Wii. Jackson received a lot of cool Star Wars The Clone Wars toys and lego's. It was a fun and tiring day. Jackson again was sad that his Mimi and Grandad had to go back to B'ham.

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday we had lunch with Mimi, Grandad, Uncle Robbie, Aunt Emma and Jake. Johnathan was unable to join us because he had to work. We had lunch at The Boathouse, and then Mimi and Emma came over and watched The Master's. Grandad and Robbie were supposed to go to the driving range, but they did not make it. The day was pretty uneventful until the front door was left open and our two puppies escaped into the neighborhood. After about 20 minutes of searching a neighbor from a street over had found them for us!! Thank god cause I thought they were gone for good. When The Master's were over Mimi and Grandad packed up Bruiser and went back to B'ham. Jackson was sad to see them leave, but was relieved to know they would be back the next weekend for his birthday party!

Legoland

We spent Wednesday and Friday at Legoland. Jackson loved it!!! He loved looking at the things made out of Lego more than the rides!!! Here are a few pics of the things we saw at Legoland. The Volvo Driving School was Jackson's favorite ride. He now has a driver's license!

Spring Break 2009

Spring Break 2009 was spent in San Diego, CA. We went primarily to take Jackson to Legoland. On Monday, we spent the day touring San Diego with Grandad Jake and GG Kathy. Johnathan did not join us until Tuesday night. The pics below are of Balboa Park, The Hotel del Coronado, and the San Diego Harbor.

March 2009

Well, I left my job at Memorial in the PACU, and took a job with Chattanooga Cares. If you are not familiar with Chattanooga Cares, it is the HIV/AIDS clinic serving Hamilton County and the 11 surrounding counties. I am the Nurse Care Coordinator, and I spend most of my time dealing with new patients and retention of existing patients. So far, the job is great. It has freed up my evenings to be with Jackson. I am still working occasionally in the ER at Hutcheson and some Saturdays I am at the VW plant working for Erlanger as an Emergency Response Nurse. Life is pretty busy for me these days.
